A bit about me...

I am a reflective art teacher and a lifelong learner. I am interested in addressing higher order thinking and a more personalized experience in the visual arts. I believe in Growth Mindset, Design Thinking and Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB). It is crucial for our students to have the necessary 21st Century Skills in place for becoming productive and positive leaders in our society.

I have had the opportunity to teach artists of all ages and have been teaching in the public school system for the past 17 years. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art and Education and a Master's Degree in Education, both from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.

As a high school art teacher, I have taught Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Digital Photography and AP Art and Design. Prior to becoming an art teacher, I was a graphic designer and photographer for the USAF. Teaching artists of all ages to find their own voice and use that voice to create original artworks greatly inspires me. I enjoy personalizing instruction to encourage artists to make the most of their artistic journey.

I also have a passion for supporting underserved students who may not have equal access to art education experiences in order to express themselves in a healthy way and achieve their personal artistic goals. Please let me know how I can best tailor your artistic experience to help you achieve your goals! Ask me about financial scholarships, as money should never be a barrier to art education experiences.

I look forward to hearing from you on how we can personalize your artistic development!
